New Technical Paper - Storage Security: Encryption and Key Management

Encryption and key management capabilities have become pervasive within storage systems and ecosystems. To realize the full value of these capabilities, storage and security personnel need to understand these technologies as they relate to storage, as well issues and considerations affecting their use. When implemented correctly, storage-based encryption and key management can serve as important elements of a defense-in-depth architecture.

Understanding the relevant cryptographic mechanisms and their uses in protecting data transferred to and stored in storage systems is critical to protecting sensitive and high-value data. This technical paper provides a solid foundation for storage and security professionals as it covers a broad range of relevant concepts and offers guidance while highlighting important issues and considerations.

Simplified Namespace Management – The Open Standards Way
Wednesday, October 18, 2023
David Slik, SNIA Cloud Storage Technical Work Group Chair; Michael Hoard, Intel

The days of simple, static, self-contained file systems have long passed. Today, we have complex, dynamic namespaces, mixing block, file, object, key-value, queue, and graph-based resources, accessed via multiple protocols, and distributed across multiple systems and geographic sites. These complexities result in new challenges for simplifying management.

The good news is, that the SNIA Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI™), an open ISO® standard (ISO/IEC 17826:2022) for managing data objects and containers, already includes extensive capabilities for simplifying the management of complex namespaces. In this webinar, attendees will learn how to simplify namespace management – the open standards way, including namespace discovery, introspection, exports, imports and more
