Cloud Object Storage Plugfest
SNIA is planning an open collaborative Cloud Object Storage Plugfest co-located at SNIA Storage Developer Conference (SDC) scheduled for September 2024 to work on improving cross-implementation compatibility for client and/or server implementations of private and public cloud object storage solutions.
This endeavor is designed to be an independent, vendor-neutral effort with broad industry support, focused on a variety of solutions, including on-premises and in the cloud. This Plugfest aims to reduce compatibility issues, thus improving customer experience and increasing the adoption rate of object storage solutions.

SAS Plugfest: Call for Participation
The SNIA STA Forum will be hosting a SAS Plugfest during the week of April 22 - 26, 2024. This will be the first fully in-person SAS Plugfest since 2019, and the 20th SAS Plugfest overall, spanning twenty years of cooperative technology development. There will be a meeting open to all interested companies on Tuesday, December 12 at 10:00 am PT.

SNIA recently announced its 2023-2024 Board of Directors and Technical Council members. The organization has over 200 industry-leading organizations, 2,500+ active members, and more than 50,000 IT end users and IT professionals around the world.

SNIA SCSI Trade Association Forum (STA), a SNIA technology forum and the respected authority on Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) technology, recently announced its Fiscal Year 2024 Board of Directors.
“We are excited to support and welcome the first STA Forum Board of Directors in the continuing work as part of SNIA,” said Dr. J Metz, Chair, SNIA Board of Directors. “Paving the way forward with an upcoming SAS plugfest, the first as a SNIA Forum, the new STA Board has a great opportunity to drive the future of ongoing cooperation with the joint membership, resources, and success of the STA Forum within SNIA.”

Object Storage has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of modern data centers and cloud infrastructure. Ensuring API compatibility has become crucial for object storage developers who want to benefit from the wide ecosystem of existing applications. However, achieving compatibility can be challenging due to the complexity and variety of the APIs, access control mechanisms, and performance and scalability requirements.
In this webinar, we'll highlight real-world incompatibilities found in various object storage implementations. We'll discuss specific examples of existing discrepancies, such as missing or incorrect response headers, unsupported API calls, and unexpected behavior. We’ll also describe the implications these have on actual client applications.
