Quantum and CATALOG Technologies Join DNA Data Storage Alliance Board

The DNA Data Storage Alliance recently announced the expansion of their board with the addition of David Turek of CATALOG Technologies and Don Doerner and Turguy Goker from Quantum Corporation. These storage veteran appointments bring diverse technical expertise to help lead the implementation of industry standards for DNA data storage and drive DNA as an archival storage medium.

Intelligence Community Demonstrates Confidence in DNA Data Storage with MIST II RFI

The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) posted a request for information (RFI) for Molecular Information Storage II (MIST II). IARPA seeks information regarding molecular-scale data storage and archiving to better understand the current technological landscape for writing and reading data using DNA as the storage media. This government research funding validates the game-changing technology of DNA data storage, which the next article in Popular Science explores.

Can These Government Efforts Crack the Code for DNA Storage?

This Popular Science article explores how the intelligence community is funding research into storing our ever-expanding troves of data in DNA. Their efforts could change how everything from our photos to Google searches get saved.

Designing Storage Architectures for Digital Collections

The Library of Congress held a two-day conference called Designing Storage Architectures for Digital Collections on digital preservation and archive technologies in Washington, DC at the end of March. All sessions from the event, including one on DNA data storage from Twist Bioscience, are now available at the conference site. We recommend looking at presentations from previous years as well.
